Education,
The purpose of my program is to help patients overcome the fear of being short of breath, avoid repeated doctor and hospital visits, and to
teach them how to restore the highest possible daily functional capacity.

Specifically the goals of the program are:
1./ Encourage self-management of symptoms by understanding the disease better.
2./ Train and teach basic breathing methods and effective airway clearance.
3./ Guidelines for exercise training to improve physical strength and endurance.
4./ Improve general health, emotional well-being and nutritional needs.
5./ Decrease and gain control of respiratory symptoms and complications.
6./ Reduce hospitalizations and improve quality of life.

New evidence based guide lines from the American College of Chest Physicians  (ACCP) and the American Association of Cardiovascular
and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) recommend a comprehensive pulmonary/COPD  rehabilitation programs for patients with COPD,
citing "REHABILITATION can help improve a patient’s health related quality of life, as well as decrease hospital stay and health care utilization.

Researches show that pulmonary/COPD rehabilitation is appropriate for any stable patient with COPD, who is disabled by respiratory
symptoms.
According to the new guidelines, 8-12 weeks (twice a week) of pulmonary rehabilitation will have benefits, but these benefits will decline
gradually over the next 12 to 18 months. Longer programs produce more benefits, than a short programs. Maintenance programs are also
highly recommended.
The experts also suggest that pulmonary rehabilitation programs should be modified to individual diseases and patients.

“Although no intervention has been shown to cure COPD, pulmonary rehabilitation can help patients to manage their conditions and improve
their ability to lead active and productive lives. With the increasing incidence of COPD, rehabilitation and educating patients are becoming
more important than ever.” Mark J. Rosen, MD FCCP, President of the American College of Chest Physicians.

My Mission is: TO RESTORE MY PATIENTS TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF THEIR INDIVIDUAL FUNCTIONS, TEACH THEM ABOUT THEIR
DISEASE, AND HOW TO COPE WITH IT.

My Pulmonary Rehabilitation Education Program, or “PREP” program is specifically designed to provide information, resources and help with
pulmonary conditions like COPD. As a member of the patients’ health care team, I will help to build an individualized program tailored to each
patient’s particular needs.
